THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP for Mental Wellbeing
It is important for everyone to get a good night’s sleep but even more important for children.
Research shows that children who regularly get a good amount of sleep have improved attention, behaviour, learning, memory and overall mental and physical health.
Having a bedtime routine is really important and should ideally be at the same time every night.
Tips to help with a bedtime routine:
- Stop the use of electronics/screens at least an hour before bedtime
- Have a warm bath
- Do a quiet activity such as reading a story
- Have a consistent bedtime routine
- Have a regular time to go to sleep and wake up
